Despicable Me 3 (2017)
Entertaining! Funny! and Adorable! They've done it again!
When the first trailer of the third installment of the popular franchise surfaced on YouTube, I was quite amused but skeptical at the same time. I loved the previous two movies, but the 2015 Minions movie fell very short of my expectations where the jokes seemed overdone and I kept glancing at the time hoping it would end.
I went to the cinema not knowing what to expect, because despite my doubts, at least rotten tomatoes had given it a good rating. From the first scene itself to the last, this movie had me laughing throughout. The jokes were slapstick most of the time, there was no real depth to it, but was there ever? Nevertheless it was good. I instantly loved the villain, the man wearing shoulder pants! While not as entertaining as vector from the first movie, this 80's villain Balthazar Bratth held up as a worthy successor. The minion bits were good, as long as it's not a continuous two hours of the yellow bastards running around and making trouble, they are a treat to watch. The next highlight of the movie was Dru, Gru's twin brother. And not bad at all, Steve Carell manages to do a higher pitch version of the same voice and accent he used with Gru and he nails it. The character blend effortlessly into movie.
The third movie follows the same formula as the first two, the super villain causes big trouble kidnapping someone close to Gru while making things go boom boom! While Gru and the family come to the rescue. However unlike most movie trilogies, where the jokes get old and we feel they should just stop *cough cough transformer cough cough* Despicable me 3 manages to keep her charm and deliver a very entertaining movie. I went with my family and everyone enjoyed!
If you look for logic and a story along with action, this is the Super Hero TV series you have been waiting for
I am not exactly a fan of Arrow, Gotham or flash. I think super hero TV series's these days, lack a lot of maturity. I was expecting to the same disappointment when i gave Dare Devil a chance, but surprisingly it was pretty good. I absolutely love the overall dark theme of the series. The lines used by the characters aren't all that cliché either. The script seems really good. Its not just mindless action, there seems to be a well organized plot. The actors, I'm quite happy with them, they will surely improve and blend more with their character in the seasons to come. I love the drama between Foggy and Matt already! Overall i think its brilliant, I did not feel fifty minutes pass by when i watched the first episode. If you look for logic and a story along with action, i believe this is the super Hero TV series you have been waiting for.
It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010)
Deserves a way better rating :D
I honestly think this movie deserves a way better rating, I really enjoyed it. It's not too serious, neither is it just another stupid comedy. The movie brings out the message, how we can always focus on the negative of life, and how high expectations and working hard to live up to them, can actually make you depressed. Especially in the last bit of the movie, where Noelle and Craig are on the rooftop, Craig narrates and i quote "Here Noelle suggests that i screw the gates summer application if it makes me so unhappy" this part just got me. If something gets puts you under lots of pressure and gets you down so much, give it up! It's not worth sacrificing your happiness for. To me, this movie was very natural, it seems like a story which can actually happen in real life. It brings out a important message of taking it easy and how lucky we are to be where we are, and to make the most of it.
La vita è bella (1997)
Looking for a comedy with a beautiful message? Then this is the film for you!
I think its safe to say, that this movie is by far one of the best movies i have seen. I find the character Guido played by Roberto Benigni very lovable and interesting. The writers have done a good job in creating the plots for him to win Dora's heart. Especially in the latter half of the film, I was really moved from his attempts to keep his child smiling in the worst situations possible by turning everything into a game. This film gives us the important message that no matter how difficult life gets, there's always a choice of happiness, and laughing at the cruelties life throws at us. A must watch film, if you are the type looking for a comedy with a lot of meaning, this is the film for you.
