In the TNG episode, "Homeward," Captain Picard believed saving a race whose planet was doomed, but had not yet made interstellar contact, would violate the Prime Directive. This series starts with Burnham and Georgiou saving a doomed race with no mention of the Prime Directive. However, a later episode does mention "Order One", which seems to be a precursor to the Prime Directive. Obviously, it has evolved over the century separating Discovery from TNG. See more
