This is one incredible adaptation of a beloved manga.

First, it was a faithful adaption. Authentic Japanese are cast for each character. This doesn't sound like much but Hollywood has had a long history of disrespecting Asian culture and entertainment.

Second, the central themes of the plot were kept consistent throughout. Most surprisingly is that the depth of the themes were not sacrificed. You felt like you're watching a film that respected your intelligence instead of patronizing you with trite clichés.

Third, the action was brutal and satisfying. Moreover, it was BEAUTIFUL. Each shot was a work of art crafted with passion.

I thank the creator of the manga and the creators of this film for keeping the film authentic and memorable. Please let this tradition continue. This is what fans of Asian culture wish to see more of.

Verdict: 9/10 Watch it.
