‘The Commuter’ Trailer: Liam Neeson Rides Into Danger

20 minutes ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

“They’re still throwing serious money at me to do [action movies]. I’m like: ‘Guy’s I’m sixty-f******-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go: ‘Come on,’ ” Liam Neeson recently said about his late career resurgence as a man with a very special set of skills. Whether or not that means he’s going to punch his ticket on action flicks remains to be seen, he’s got at least one more coming with “The Commuter.”

Co-starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, and directed by Neeson’s go-to action dude Jaume Collet-Serra (“Unknown,” “Non-Stop,” “Run All Night“), this actually plays like “Non-Stop” but on a train, with the story centering around a mild-mannered dude who gets caught up in a criminal’s complex plans.

Liam Neeson out of Action

14 September 2017 2:13 PM, PDT | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

2008 was a monumental year. No, not because England were absent from the Euros, but because this was when Taken first saw the light of day, introducing us to the character of Bryan Mills and in turn taking Liam Neeson‘s career into a new dimension. Now however, the Irish actor has decided to turn his back on making action movies, citing his age and a desire to take on serious roles as the key reasons.

Despite this, Neeson claimed at the recent Toronto International Film Festival: “They’re still throwing serious money at me to do this stuff”, adding “I’m like: ‘Guys I’m sixty-f******-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go: ‘Come on.”

Who knew nine years ago that the Ulsterman would become synonymous with the genre, almost a byword for ‘action’ itself? Well, as he has deemed it “all a pure accident”, certainly not the man himself. »

Commuter Trailer Takes Liam Neeson on an Action-Packed Train Ride

13 September 2017 3:42 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The commute from the suburbs to the big city just got deadly in the first trailer for The Commuter, with Lionsgate also releasing the first photo and the rather Hitchcockian first poster. This marks the fourth collaboration between Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra, who have previously worked together on Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night. This trailer may be somewhat bittersweet for die-hard Liam Neeson fans, though, when you take into account the news that dropped earlier today.

Liam Neeson is currently at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his new biopic Mark Felt: The Man Who Took Down the White House, where he made a rather surprising admission, that he's retiring from action films. The actor revealed he has one action movie coming out in January, referring to this film The Commuter, and then, "there might be another," although that mystery project would be the last one, »

Liam Neeson Is Retiring from Action Movies

13 September 2017 10:48 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Liam Neeson is possibly looking to make on Oscar bid this year with his work in Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House, playing the man known as "Deep Throat" who helped expose the Watergate scandal. For much of his career, those were the kinds of roles that he was best known for. However, once Taken came out in 2008, he managed to find a new life as an older action movie star. But Liam Neeson has had about enough of that and has announced that he is retiring from big action franchises.

As reported by Sky News, Liam Neeson spoke at the Toronto International Film Festival recently and revealed that he is done with movies like Taken. So why is he deciding to hang up his very particular set of skills now? Apparently, he's getting too old. Here's what he had to say about it.

Liam Neeson nears the end of his action career with The Commuter. Here's the first trailer...

Liam Neeson has been suggesting over the past day or so that his time with action movies is coming to an end. He’s still got one or two more in the can, though, with the latest being his fourth collaboration with director Jaume Collet-Serra.

The pair have previously given us Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night. For their next venture, Neeson stars in The Commuter, as an insurance salesman on his usual ride home. Problem is, he’s then contacted by a stranger, who threatens everyone on his train.

The movie – that co-stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga – will be in cinemas at the start of next year. And the first trailer has just been released for it. Here’s what we’ve got to look forward to…

Jaume Collet-Serra and Liam Neeson Reunite in First Trailer for ‘The Commuter’

12 September 2017 6:54 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

After waxing poetic about the B-movie thrills and genuine vision Jaume Collet-Serra brings to his films, I admit feeling a little vindicated when he finally earned some much-deserved acclaim for his Blake Lively-led shark thriller The Shallows, by the far the best summer blockbuster of last year. But it was only missing one thing: Liam Neeson.

Following Unknown, Non-Stop, and Run All Night, the duo have now reunited for The Commuter. Riffing once again on Alfred Hitchcock and bringing along his Orphan star Vera Farmiga for the ride, the film presents Neeson’s character with a question of morality: for $75,000, will he uncover a person with seemingly evil intentions on his train?

We can’t wait to find out, but watching the first trailer below, it looks like we already know the answer.

The Commuter blesses us on January 12, 2018. »

Liam Neeson Goes on a Dangerous Train Ride in ‘The Commuter’ First Trailer (Video)

Liam Neeson is back to using his “particular set of skills” — this time, the actor takes a dangerous train ride in the first trailer for “The Commuter.” The trailer follows Michael Woolrich who has taken the same train morning train for 10 years. This time, however, he meets a woman (Vera Farmiga) who puts him up to a deadly game. “You have until the next stop to decide — what kind of person are you?” Farmiga’s character asks Woolrich, before telling him he needs to find the one person who doesn’t belong on this train. Oh, and there is a ton. »

Liam Neeson Gets Into Trouble on a Train in Trailer for 'The Commuter'

12 September 2017 7:54 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"What do you want from me?!" Lionsgate has revealed the first official trailer for a new action-thriller train movie starring Liam Neeson, titled The Commuter. From the same director of Non-Stop (the airplane movie) and The Shallows, this movie is basically Unstoppable (the train movie) meets Non-Stop (or even Source Code). Neeson plays an insurance salesman who gets mixed up in a criminal conspiracy on his daily commute home via train. Vera Farmiga, a "mysterious stranger", sits with him for a chat and things get very interesting, very quick. The cast includes Patrick Wilson, Killian Scott, Jonathan Banks, Sam Neill, Elizabeth McGovern, Florence Pugh, and Damson Idris. I quite like the setup for this, the way Farmiga talks to him and tells him what to do very nonchalantly, I just hope it lives up to the full potential.
