The Secret Part of Me Hoping The Writer’s Strike Goes Through

The big news in Hollywood today is the impending writer’s strike.  There’s an increasing possibility that the WGA is going to strike when the deadline to cut deal with movie and TV networks expires.  At first it was thought the chance of a strike was around 50/50 but it’s more like 75/25 right now.  What does this mean?  It means that some of your favorite shows might go on hiatus pretty soon.  While many shows are already written through the end of the season, there are some shows like The Walking Dead that could be badly affected by the strike.

So People are Buying into Cooper’s Treasure Now?

Can someone explain this obsession with treasure reality shows?  It still boggles my mind that The Curse of Oak Island had millions and I’m talking millions of viewers in its season 4 finale.   Season 4!  That means there were not one or two or three seasons of these guys failing to find buried sea treasure, but a fourth go around led to failure and a new ratings record for the show.  And guess what?  All indications are pointing to a season five!  Rick and Marty Lagina are literally laughing their way to the bank right now, as is The History

Brie Larson Explains Why She’s Doing Captain Marvel

Brie Larson was recently featured in a pretty sultry photoshoot for Vanity Fair which she admitted she was reluctant to do.  With regards to her career, there’s another thing she was nearly reluctant to do as well: play the lead role in Captain Marvel.   Larson is a huge star right now and some think that moving to the money making machine that is Marvel might be a bit of a “sell out” move but while money must have been a factor in her decision making process, it wasn’t the only factor. “It took me a really long time,” Larson explained to Vanity

John Kasich Interview on The Daily Show Was Great but Who Watched It?

The issue with John Kasich that’s always prevented him from being more popular than he should be is that he’s kind of boring.  It’s that simple.  Of all the Republican candidates during the 2016 election he was probably the most “qualified” for the job of President of the United States.  But this was the pervading issue the entire time:  It’s as if he was the little runt of the litter who kept trying to get a word in and no one really listened to him when he finally did.  It’s like the guy was bullied but not on purpose.   And

The Voice Season 12 Top 12 Performances Are One Big Blur of Sound

While the The Voice Season 12 Top 12 Performances, were all basically good, I found the overall feel the show a little dull.  When nearly everyone is getting the same notes, cut out the rifts to “sound more emotional,” the result is that all the music starts sounding the same.  It’s like no matter the original genre everyone sounded like they were on a country music station! Do I blame that on guest mentor Shania Twain? No. The Voice Season 12 has been telling singer after singer to do less rifts since the beginning of the season.  I’m not

“That Gal” Actor of the Week: Andrea Martin Aka Aunt Voula from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”

I bring up the name Andrea Martin because it was recently announced she’ll be starring in a new television series that has none other than Tina Fey at the helm.  Fey herself isn’t in the show but she’s got her fingerprints all over it. “I have loved Andrea Martin from afar for so many years,” Fey wrote for the cover blurb of Martin’s 2014 autobiography, “but now, after reading this funny and heroically honest book, I would like to take things to the ‘next level’ and marry her.” Instead, she hired her to play Carol, the overbearing mother of a

Great Trailers, Movies That Stunk: Watchmen

I you haven’t seen the movie Watchmen, don’t even bother.  It’s just not good, period.  However, this is a movie that had an amazing trailer.  People were completely jacked up to see this movie and rightfully so.  Once stuidos launched the trailer in 2008, they had to print almost 1 million copies of Watchmen trade collection to meet demand.  Too bad the movie itself didn’t nearly live up to expectations.  Even the synopsis was awesome: When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the outlawed but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill

Movie or TV Characters I’d Marry in a Heartbeat: Kate Beckinsale’s “Sara Thomas” in Serendipity

I’ve decided to start a segment on this site that I’m quite sure my wife will love.  It’s called “movie or TV characters I’d marry in a heartbeat.”  We’ll be exploring the type of movie character whom I think I could probably spend the rest of my life based on whatever factors make it possible.  In some cases it might be looks.  In other cases it might be personality.  Hell it might even be a particular super power.  You just never know.  And just to make things fair, I’ll add some dudes from time to time as well. The first

The Top Five Movie Mistakes of the Fast and Furious Franchise

The Fate of the Furious is going to top $1 billion in gross sales this week which is pretty unheard of in this short amount of time since its release.  While most of the sales for the film have been international (particularly in China) I don’t think that movie executives are complaining about the location of their profits.   I think I can speak for everyone in saying that in 2001 no one could have predicted the rise of the Furious franchise the way it’s went down. This is something that went from an illegal drag racing “fun” movie to a

Chris Pratt has Some Legitimately Solid Advice for DC Movies

With the success of Guardians of the Galaxy and now Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Chris Pratt is most certainly qualified to speak to what it takes to make a successful comic book movie.  Pratt will also be in the next Avengers film so his time with Marvel has been well spent.  In a recent interview with io9, Pratt had a chance to reflect on what makes a Marvel movie successful and ultimately gave some interesting and appropriate advice for the Warner Bros. squad who helm the DC Comics films that haven’t been as successful as Marvel’s. “I really

Interesting Video on the Invisible Art of Visual Effects

Visual effects are a component of film that are constructed with the same precision and artistic creativity as nearly anything else in a film.  However, there’s a major difference that separates visual effects from other aspects of the movie.  While many key elements of a movie are deliberate such as costumes, coloring, a film’s setting, props, etc etc, visual effects are the complete opposite.  In order for them to work they have to be as subtle as possible so the viewer doesn’t even know that the effects are taking place. If you think you’re an expert at spotting visual effects

Cool Behind the Scenes Set Photos from the Original Twin Peaks

Unfortunately there’s nothing new to report on the upcoming season of Twin Peaks.  We’ll just have to settle for some nostalgia today.  But there’s nothing wrong with that because while we don’t have any new information on the newest season of the David Lynch directed series, we did manage to come across some never before seen photos from the set of the show during it’s run in the 90s. Seeing all of your old friends from Twin Peaks again may cause a few memories to resurface, including those “they won’t be on the new episodes because they’re dead!” moments that

If Star Wars and Avatar are doing it with Disney theme parks, then why not Warner Bros.?  While there’s still no word on a Marvel based themed park you can bet it’s probably in the works somewhere in the world.  But until we see a Marvel theme park, first fans should be delighted to know that Warner Bros. is planning a theme park that will see the likes of Gotham City and Metropolis come to life.   According to Cb Warner Bros. World is currently being developed by the company, alongside Abu Dhabi’s Miral. The completely indoor park is slated to debut in

Young and the Restless: Kevin is Bella’s Father – Or is This A Lie?

Young and the Restless spoilers for this week are so good we just can’t keep them to ourselves. Kevin and Billy will open their letters from Chloe, and it turns out Kevin is the little girl’s father. Billy will be distraught about the entire situation, but Kevin will be so happy he can’t contain himself. We have some reservations about this, though. There is a chance he’s not the father. Chloe is a liar, and she always has been. She will do whatever she can to protect her daughter, and we think this includes lying. She loves Kevin, and she

Guy Proposes to his Girlfriend With his Own Movie Trailer

28-year-old Ryan Langston just set the new bar for marriage proposals when he created something very special for  26-year-old Adrianna Neil.  The two were friends for 10 years before they fell in love one year ago.  Turns out after that one precious year Langston knew that Neil was the woman for him.  But how do you propose to your best friend of 10 years, and lover for one?  Clearly Ryan didn’t think that a traditional “down on one knee” proposal was going to cut it. Langston told Neil that they were going to go see “Beauty and the Beast” as an early 26th

Stephen Colbert Analyzes Trump’s First 100 Days in Office

News came out yesterday that Donald Trump is the least popular President of all-time through his first 100 days in office.  That’s right, of all-time.  Naturally Donald Trump was fuming at this news and made a zillion excuses as usual about the “fake news.”  But rather than harp on the “unpopular” stuff let’s try and focus on exactly what Donald Trump has in fact accomplished in his first 100 days with the new administration. Luckily Stephen Colbert was there to assist us with many of the facts.  Don’t worry, I’m sure that John Oliver is going to tear it up

The Bold and the Beautiful: Is Sally’s Gut Instinct Correct?

The Bold and the Beautiful fans know things rarely ever go the way people want them to go. We see that firsthand as we see how Sally is reacting to all she’s done. She did what her grandmother told her to do, and it ended very badly for her. She’s not the same woman she was when she showed up in town looking to take over her grandmother’s business and build it back up. She let Shirley get to her, change her, and corrupt her. Now she’s regretting it all. She’s lost the man she loves, the sister she’s always

Kobe Bryant is considered to be one of the greatest NBA players to ever play the game.   He’s also been known to dabble in sneaker design.  In his spare time he loves being a father.  In his post NBA life Bryant has taken on the new title of “venture capitalist.”  But there’s another talent we may have been missing all this time in Bryant’s arsenal:  slam poet. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion Looking at Potential Sequel?

No, really.  The title for this article is true.  There might actually be a Romy and Michele’s High School reunion sequel.  That means there’s potentially a studio executive out there who might sign off on this project.   To say I’m surprised would be the understatement of the year.   If anyone asks me “what’s hands down the worst movie you’ve ever seen?”  10 times out of 10 I answer with Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. But here we are “celebrating” the movie’s 20th anniversary and there’s even a musical out that’s based on the movie.  So what about a sequel?
